Minimum cat weight for every automatic litter box

Across the 20 automatic litter boxes in our database whose maker states one, the minimum cat weight ranges from 2.2 lb (1 kg) to 6.6 lb (3 kg). The lowest figure is stated for Neakasa M1 and PETLIBRO Luma. Where a brand gives two different figures, the table shows both and sorts by the higher, more cautious one.

A minimum weight is not a kitten rule. It is the lightest cat the scale is said to notice. Most makers say kittens should not use automatic cleaning at all; see automatic litter boxes for kittens and our safety guide.

Why the minimum weight matters

Most automatic boxes notice a cat with a scale under the base. A cat lighter than the stated minimum may not register, so a cycle could start while it is inside. An entry presence sensor, which watches the opening, is a second check that does not depend on weight; the last column shows whether a source claims one.

All figures are manufacturer claims from manuals and product pages, converted to kilograms arithmetically. We have not weighed a cat or run a test of our own. Each number links to its source below.
