About this database
An independent reference for automatic litter boxes, built from manuals, FCC filings and recall records.
SmartLitterBox Database collects what manufacturers state about their automatic litter boxes and puts it in one place, field by field, with a link to where each value came from. It currently covers 15 models.
Who runs it
The database is maintained by The SmartLitterBox Database desk, an editorial pseudonym for the small team that reads the manuals and filings and enters the data. We do not claim veterinary or engineering credentials. We do not own the litter boxes listed here and we have not tested them physically. Every spec sheet is labelled as manufacturer claims, not our measurements, and How we check explains this in full.
Why it exists
Most pages about automatic litter boxes are ranked lists that repeat the same claims. Safety questions, such as the lightest cat a box detects or whether anything closes over the entry, are rarely answered with a number and a source. That is the gap this database tries to fill.
