How we check

Every number comes from a document you can open. We have not tested these boxes ourselves.

We do not own these litter boxes and have not tested them. No value on this site is a measurement of ours. Noise, weight and capacity are what the manufacturer claims, and are labelled “claimed”.

Sources we accept

  • The manufacturer's manual (PDF or web), with the page number.
  • The manufacturer's own product, support and warranty pages.
  • FCC equipment authorization records (FCC ID, grantee, grant date).
  • CPSC recall records.
  • A retail listing only for what the manufacturer states in it, marked as a listing.

We do not use review sites, forums, videos or AI summaries as sources. If a value cannot be found in an accepted source, the field stays empty and is shown striped.

Publication rule

We track 22 key fields per model: how it cleans, entry, minimum cat weight, claimed, heaviest cat, cats per unit, drum or tray volume, waste drawer, entry height, width, unit weight, litter it takes, without Wi-Fi, app, FCC ID, made by (FCC grantee), weight sensor, entry presence sensor, anti-pinch, shortest delay before cleaning, stop button on the unit, bags and filters, warranty. A model page is published only when at least 14 of the 22 have a source. Below that, the model stays in our working list and is not shown.

Safety Layers (0 to 6)

One point for each protection a source says the model has:

  • Weight sensor. Pads under the base notice a cat stepping in and hold the cycle until the weight is gone.
  • Entry sensor. Infrared or radar watches the opening for a head or paw, including cats too light for the scale.
  • Anti-pinch. If the moving part meets resistance, the motor stops or reverses instead of pushing through.
  • Open entry. No door or shutter moves over the opening during a cycle.
  • Cycle delay. A wait of at least 3 minutes after the cat leaves before anything moves.
  • Stop button. A button on the unit that halts the motor without the app or Wi-Fi.

Each layer has three states: claimed with a source, not claimed (a source says it is absent, or the full manual was read and it is not there), and still being checked. The score counts only claimed layers. It describes how many independent protections are stated on paper. It is not a verdict that a box is safe or unsafe.

Minimum cat weight, claimed

The lowest cat weight the manufacturer states for automatic use, in pounds with kilograms in brackets. Converted arithmetically when the manual uses kilograms (1 kg = 2.20462 lb).

Data confidence

The number of the 22 key fields that have a source, shown as “n of 22 fields sourced” on each model page.

Clone families

Models from at least two different brands are grouped when their sources match on at least 3 of 4 points: body size, drum volume, cat weight range and app platform (Tuya Smart and Smart Life count as one platform). Each family page says what the grouping is based on. Same numbers do not prove the same factory; an FCC filing that names the same grantee does, and the page says so when we have one. A shared app alone is not enough.

Updates

Each model shows the month its data was last checked. Recall records are checked monthly. Corrections: [email protected].
